Eight Months On…

Where Has The Time Gone?

Back in February, exhausted and full of hope, I published my first book, A Night of Strange Dreams. It’s a collection of 18 short stories, built up over the last few years, with thematic and sometimes direct connections between them all.

If you’d like to know more about my debut collection, then please check it out here:

That book was my first step into the world of self-publishing, and I have learned a lot throughout the process, from the highs of completing a piece of work from concept to publication, to the lows of seeing it gathering dust on the digital bookshelves of the world.

However, this is not a sob story. I am here, eight months later, feeling refreshed and reinvigorated. I have smartened up my long-abandoned author website! I have been through a fruitful period of reviews and interest on NetGalley. I am into the next draft of my new book (more on that below!).

Free Stuff!

I now have a free sample story available online from A Night of Strange Dreams. A little taster for anyone who may wish to see what the book is about.

“When Dale Knight Played” began life as a Globe Soup short story competition entry, before it took off to the beat of its own drum. If you’d like to read it for free, please follow this link:

What’s Next?

My next book is about two Victorian adventurers going on one last voyage. It’s also about memory and loss. It’s about friendship. It’s about magic and machinery. It’s about family. It’s about water. Over the sea. Under the bridge. At the bottom of the bottle. In the stream.
